Thursday, July 24 - Sunday, July 27 I was in Columbus, Ohio training with the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). I was selected as one of the 1000 out of 3500 applicants able to attend. I am very thankful for being selected and very grateful for being able to get there -- thanks to my family and friends that sponsored me to attend.
You were able to choose from the following tracks: elections, advocacy, community or fundraising. But overall the goal of the summit was to make cancer a national priority -- "Vote Yellow." Since the LAF is a non-profit organization they cannot take a stand supporting a party, they are non-partisan, but they are able to take a stand on an issue like this. Cancer affects all of us whether we are young or old, black or white, democratic or republican. So throughout the summit I chose the advocacy track. We focused our efforts on grassroots and advocacy. It was so awesome. Lance came and sat in our class for a little bit also! I think I caught him off guard, but I thought it was so cool that he is one of us -- just sitting in and learning.

Being able to attend the summit only confirmed that cancer support is something I want to do for the rest of my life. You meet the most amazing people.

I was able to meet up with some friends that I knew in Columbus. This picture is of my "oldest sister" Kristi, me, Katie and Kevin. I had such a blast with them. I met awesome people at the summit (like my newest friend Ashleigh), and overall it was one of the best trainings/summits that I have ever been to.

I now LIVE STRONG.

Thank you to everyone that helped me to get to the Summit this year.
